Douglas Kwitek

Douglas Kwitek grew up in Canon City, Colorado, where he attended Canon City High School and graduated with the class of 1986.  In high school, Doug worked as a cartographer for the Fremont County Abstract and Title Company.  There he learned about land titles and real property issues.  He continued that education in his undergraduate studies when he worked for a County Land Surveyor.  A graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder  in 1990, Doug obtained a Political Science, Bachelor of Arts diploma.  Thereafter he attended law school at the University of Wyoming, College of Law.  During law school, Doug worked during his summers with the 11th Judicial District, District Attorney’s office in Canon City.

After graduation from law school in 1993 and passing the bar exam, Doug opened his own practice in Canon City and handled all types of criminal and traffic defense, domestic relations matters and juvenile-related issues.  He later took a job in Pueblo with Banner & Enck, the predecessor law firm to Buxman Kwitek, PC.  Doug initially resided in Pueblo, but moved to Pueblo West on a temporary basis, only to grow to appreciate the community.  He and his wife Kristi have lived there for over 23 years, where they raised two children.

Doug’s practice areas have changed over the years and now he handles estate planning, probate, contracts, real estate, business and corporate matters; including litigation.  He has enjoyed practicing with Darrin Buxman for over 24 years, where they share the same philosophies about the practice, most importantly the principal of putting their clients’ interests first, even before their own.
